Urban Alchemy hires individuals who were once incarcerated and trains them to transform people and places
through love and respect. We provide services that heal communities challenged by the intersection of extreme
poverty mental illness addiction and homelessness. When individuals are suffering in our public spaces Urban
Alchemy offers solutions. When a neighborhood street or intersection earns a reputation as a place to avoid we
turn it around. Urban Alchemy staff known as Practitioners create a peaceful and supportive presence helping
our communities rebuild a sense of pride one person at a time. Urban Alchemy is a nonprofit organization
founded in 2018. We quickly grew from a small program in San Francisco to a thriving social enterprise with over
1300 staff. We currently operate in California Alabama Oregon and Texas and are actively expanding our
national presence with recent growth into Georgia and New Mexico. Over 95% of Urban Alchemy employees

Position Summary:
The Business Operations Specialist ensures smooth processes and systems are implemented and enabled to
administratively support the operations of Urban Alchemys various metropolitan locations. They must have
excellent organizational skills and a personable disposition to keep all worksites thriving. They will have flexibility
in handling day-to-day routines as well as surprises. The Business Operations Specialist will provide strong reliable
support for Operations and General and Administrative departments by creating procedures and communicating
them and be part of or support the safety committee. They will also help achieve organizational efficiency by
coordinating essential business functions between departments and develop initiatives to improve efficiencies
throughout the partnership with Human Resources they are essential to nurturing a positive
inclusive work environment.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Position Specific:
Ensure all systems operate smoothly and align with established protocols and quality standards
Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures
Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise
Build processes that meet operational objectives and ensure compliance
Monitor budgets and recommend solutions that will improve procurement
Coordinate with the Contracts Operations and Human Resources departments to ensure hiring plans
meet business needs and meets contractual obligations
Take into account the needs of external and internal stakeholders and incorporate them into business
plans
Oversee visitors to the office and ensure a friendly personal experience
Ensure peak operations for the organization and implement preventive measures for potential issues
Implement office policies and procedures measure outcomes against standards and improve operational
flow
Coordinate internal and external resources and cultivate relationships with vendors
Respond to requests and questions about office operations
Ensure office efficiency by maintaining common areas organizing procedures handling correspondence
managing file systems and overseeing supplies and equipment
Oversee day-to-day office activities as main point of contact and keep management informed regularly via
performance reports
Oversee and maintain office equipment for uninterrupted function identify needs and acquire supplies
manage vendor relationships and coordinate food deliveries when requested
Manage all aspects of space/infrastructure planning (ex: moves additions changes to workstations) and
provide answers resources and solutions when requested
General:
Will treat all Urban Alchemy guests staff and stakeholders with compassion and respect
Use emotional intelligence to effectively engage and connect with others
Adhere to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with OSHA
state and local regulations as well as Urban Alchemys policies
Attend orientation and any additional training required by Urban Alchemy or our funders
Follow all Urban Alchemys policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor

3 years performing successfully in the same or similar roles
Strong time-management and people skills high degree of flexibility and excellent multitasking ability
Proficiency with office applications and aptitude for learning new software and systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information
Ability to handle budgets and track inventory
Ability to work accurately and quickly under operational deadlines
Ability to deal with vendors and staff in an efficient and professional manner
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in writing and verbally
Experience in developing internal systems
Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred
