Position: MS Technology Teacher

Position type: Full Time

Position location (School): MEmphis Street Academy Charter School

Department: Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Employment status: Exempt

Employment duration: 10 Months


Position Overview:


The Middle School Technology Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering engaging standards-based instruction in technology for students in grades 5-8. This role emphasizes digital literacy computer science fundamentals responsible technology use and the integration of technology into core subject areas. The teacher will foster creativity problem-solving and critical thinking while preparing students with the technological skills necessary for academic success and future careers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a technology curriculum that includes digital literacy keyboarding coding robotics internet safety and multimedia projects.

  • Teach students how to effectively and responsibly use technology for learning communication and collaboration.

  • Integrate technology across subjects to support interdisciplinary learning.

  • Create hands-on project-based learning experiences that encourage innovation and critical thinking.

  • Instruct students in proper research practices online safety and digital citizenship.

  • Maintain an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that supports diverse learners.

  • Assess student progress using multiple measures and provide timely feedback.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide technology initiatives.

  • Stay current with emerging educational technology trends and tools.

  • Support students and staff in troubleshooting basic technology issues when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Instructional Technology Computer Science or related field (Masters preferred).

  • Valid teaching certification (appropriate to subject/grade level).

  • Strong knowledge of instructional technology tools Google Workspace for Education Microsoft Office Suite and coding platforms.

  • Experience teaching middle school students and differentiating instruction.

  • Excellent classroom management organizational and communication skills.

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with robotics coding languages (Scratch Python HTML/CSS) and educational technology applications.

  • Familiarity with project-based learning and STEM/STEAM initiatives.

  • Ability to collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into other subject areas.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position during the academic year.

  • Participation in professional development and school-wide activities is expected.
