SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Program Coordinator has the overall responsibility for developing implementing and organizing high quality youth sports programs and other activities for youth ages 8 18. Significant organizational and interpersonal skills are required to work collaboratively with the youth parents ministry team staff and community stakeholders. The Program Coordinator ensures that a well-balanced program is maintained including opportunities for worship community building social action education (life skills character building) and leadership development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create a safe and supportive drop-in center space for City of Rome youth
Responsible for the daily operations supervision and interaction with children and staff including the facilitation of drop-in center programming and overall cleanliness of the space
Ensure youth are appropriately supervised by approved staff and volunteers
Partner with other Corps and Community agencies to develop relevant and engaging programming
Provide referrals and connections to other Corps and community programs as needed
Participate in the ongoing development of drop-in center policies and procedures
Participate in program outreach and program development
Track measurable outcomes according to goals use measurement tools and report per policy
Maintain up-to-date and accurate statistical reports timesheets mileage records and other data as required
Actively participate in training sessions as provided
Attend community partnership meetings as appropriate
Participate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned
SPECIAL SKILLS CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED; one year of experience working with children; one year of technical school preferred.
Effective interpersonal communication research multi-tasking and team-coordinating skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office especially spreadsheets databases and reporting tools
Ability to delegate work set clear direction and manage workflow.
Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
Ability to train and coordinate volunteers
Ability to foster a sense of value among volunteers staff and program participants
De-escalation and mediation skills are required
Must possess demonstrated and effective supervisory skills
Valid NYS Drivers License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements
