Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Airport Manager is responsible for providing customer service to aircraft personal and passengers including fueling aircrafts and performing maintenance and repairs to airport facilities and equipment. This position will work on an on-call as needed basis for snow removal operations and vacation coverage.

Pay Rate Information:

The Airport Worker is a non-union position and starting pay is $17.87/hour. This position is eligible for step pay increases within our Non-Union Grade 1 Wage Scale. Top end of the current wage scale for this position is $22.63/hour.

Essential Job Functions:

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully and individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  1. Performs inspections maintenance and repairs on airport facilities buildings grounds equipment and vehicles.
  2. Operates fuel truck stationary fueling equipment and fuels aircraft. Ensures that clean fuel is delivered to aircrafts by monitoring and testing fuel on a regular basis.
  3. Performs daily inspections and quality control on fueling equipment.
  4. Provides radio communications and general support for airport customers.
  5. Moves aircrafts utilizing aircraft towing equipment as needed.
  6. Opens and/or closes the terminal building for daily operations which includes buildings grounds parking ramp inspections and security.
  7. Mows lawns and performs snow removal on airport grounds.
  8. Issues notices to airmen on critical items such as snow on the runway or airport construction.
  9. Assists customers with making rental car arrangements catering and hotel accommodations.
  10. Accepts payments for goods and services customers receive.
  11. Provides services to aircrafts and airport facilities on a 24-hour basis as needed.
  12. Performs other duties as directed.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand sit walk climb use hands and fingers talk hear and view and create written documents. The employee uses hand strength to grasp tools and may climb ladders or uneven terrain. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms such as to operate and repair vibrating machinery use wrenches hand tools etc. fuel aircraft and operate motorized equipment and vehicles. The employee must lift or push/pull objects of up to 75 lbs. without assistance. Accommodations will be made as needed for employees required to lift or move objects that exceed this weight.

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. The employee works near moving mechanical equipment. The noise level in the work environment is often moderate but can be loud.
