Job Description


Prime Source Foods the largest distribution center is seeking a 3rd shift shuttle driver.


The hours for this position will vary from 7 PM to 4 AM Monday through this vital role you will contribute to the smooth operation of our supply chain delivering exceptional service and safe transportation of fresh and premium goods to our satellite warehouse in Maine or Connecticut for next-day deliveries.

Requirements


Vehicle Operation:

  • Safely and efficiently operate a commercial vehicle which may include a tractor-trailer box truck or similar depending on the weight and type of load.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws safety regulations (including DOT regulations) and company policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle and its equipment are in safe operating condition reporting any issues or needed repairs promptly.
  • Potentially operate a manual transmission.

Transportation of Goods:

  • Deliveries are made in all weather conditions throughout the year (snow ice rain heat wind etc.)
  • Transport empty trailers to warehouse locations and deliver full trailers to designated yards or customer locations.
  • Ensure the proper handling of meats and provisions maintaining required temperatures within refrigerated compartments (reefer units) to prevent spoilage and adhering to food safety guidelines.
  • Perform hook and unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
  • Park and store vehicles in designated secure areas.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Ensure all required route paperwork (invoices manifests) is accurate and available upon dispatch.
  • Maintain a daily record of hours of service in accordance with regulations potentially using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse managers supervisors and potentially customers.
  • Promptly report any unsafe delivery conditions.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CDL A with airbrakes; must have a DOT-certified medical card; must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • 5s Certified.
  • Three years clean PSP score (no unsafe driving/hour of service violations).
  • Three years clean DMV driving record.
  • Experience driving a commercial vehicle (tractor-trailer); experience operating a walking hand truck.
  • Experience with CDL A drop and hook fifth-wheel operation

Skills:

  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to regulations.
  • Good sense of direction and ability to navigate using maps or GPS.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail for verifying orders and completing paperwork.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50-80 pounds frequently).
  • The capability to operate a vehicle for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb in and out of the truck frequently.
  • Endurance and stamina for a physically demanding role.
