Sheppard Pratt School in Lanham is a nonpublic special education day school providing educational therapeutic and daily living services to students ages 5 to 21. Our tailored programs cater to individuals with autism spectrum disorder intellectual disabilities multiple disabilities and other health impairments ensuring each student receives the support they need to thrive. What to expect.
You will assess students vocational interests and prepare them for post-graduation based on an understanding of their developmental needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Preparing the transition component of the individualized education plan (IEP) for students in the program.
- Serving as a resource for students and their families/caregivers regarding post-secondary planning including scholarship and financial aid applications and connecting them with relevant agencies.
- Developing transition portfolios for students.
- Assisting in tracking and managing student service-learning hours and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) graduation requirements as appropriate.

The pay range for this position is $47840 minimum - $88400 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Masters degree in counseling psychology or a related field and experience working with behaviorally challenged adolescents.
- Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience.
- MSDE Initial Professional License (IPL) is preferred.
