POSITION SPECIFICS:
Preferred experience: Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing assessment plans for students being considered for special education ability to conduct comprehensive academic assessments for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Foundational understanding of special education laws and policies including IDEA and district-specific guidelines. Fiveyears or more of experience writing detailed legally defensible academic assessment reports that align with state and federal regulations.
Examples of Duties:
The Special Education Itinerant Teacher Assessment Specialist assigned to support the Special Education Department will support the identification and placement of students with disabilities through comprehensive academic assessments. This position involves traveling to private schools and non-public schools (NPS) conducting initial and triennial evaluations collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting the development of Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) incumbent will be expected to:
Create assessment plan notify other team members if they need to assess conduct assessments write and present assessment report in an IEP meetings.
Conduct all academic assessments for PPPSS and NPS students- initials and triennials.
Support unilateral placement and due process assessments- conduct academic assessments collaborate with the school site team to help them develop an offer of FAPE.
Travel to private schools to complete assessments.
Schedule assessment appointments with private schools NPS and families.

Special Education Mild/Moderate or Moderate Severe credential and aminimum of five (5) years of classroom experience in Special Education as either a Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Case Manager.

The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidates education work history and responses to the supplemental questions. Professional References will be contacted for candidates who are selected to proceed in the examination process. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Candidates selected to proceed in the examination process will be invited to an interview. Applicants who pass the examination process will be placed on an eligible list for a period of one school year. The eligible list will be used to fill vacancies at various school sites.
