WHO WE ARE:
DebtBook is an industry-leading fintech software platform that revolutionizes the way local governments higher education healthcare organizations and their finance teams work. Our powerful cloud-based software helps these organizations manage all aspects of their debt leases and subscriptions streamline financial reporting and share information simply with others.
THIS ROLE:
We are looking for a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer with a focus on Front End skills. We expect all of our engineers are able to work on the FE and the BE but we want our teams to have an expert in each if possible. This person will follow the latest front-end problems and patterns we are developing throughout the company and help their team implement them. This role will need to balance working across teams to develop and learn our front-end patterns and work on their team to help use those patterns to make and improve their product. This person will not be writing all of the front-end code for their team and should have some time to learn and use some back-end skills as well.
HOW WE WORK:
- Our application is a Majestic Monolith built with Ruby on Rails React and PostgreSQL. Our app is hosted in AWS and we use GitLab for our CI/CD pipelines and deployments. We use feature flags to allow us to continually integrate our code.
- All of our engineers work on the Front End Back End and Database. We have some engineers who are much more experienced in one but we can all do some work in any part of the stack.
- We have a small dedicated infrastructure team but we expect teams to deploy their own code and monitor their own applications.
- We dont have dedicated project managers or scrum masters. We expect everyone in engineering to project manage their own work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in all stages of the SDLC: solution shaping system design ticket writing/breakdown write full-stack code review code perform deployments participate in monitoring and gather data for reporting.
- Own the quality of your work. Write tests and work with your team to ensure everything works before merging and releasing.
- Work cross-functionally on your team to ensure work is scoped to deliver quickly and deliver the right functionality.
- Work collaboratively with other cross functional product-focused teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of related professional experience
- Experience with Ruby on Rails React and PostgreSQL or similar tools
- Experience writing tests
COMPENSATION:
- Annual salary range is $00 based on experience
- This role is eligible for an up to 10% annual bonus
- This role will receive a stock option grant
LOCATION:
- Charlotte NC - Hybrid
- We think spending time in the office regularly builds stronger teams. We want employees to spend time together regularly and we also want them to have flexibility. This is a hybrid role and we are looking for teammates who want to spend at least half of their time in the office.
INTERVIEW PROCESS:
- 30 min - Introduction Call with Engineering Manager
- 1 hr - Behavioral Interview video call with Engineering Manager
- 90 min - Technical Interview video call with Engineers
- Our technical assessment is a pair programming session designed to be very similar to our daily work. It is a collaborative session and it covers FE BE and SQL schema design.
- 1 hr - Onsite with members from the Product Design and Engineering teams
