NPRs Collaborative Journalism Network is leading an effort to build a new architecture for collaboration among NPR and more than 200 public media outlets around the country. We are creating regional newsrooms that enable groups of stations to share content and some staff positions; standing up teams of station beat reporters who cover the same topics and can identify trends across multiple communities; and sharing specialized skills and expertise in areas such as investigative reporting data journalism podcasting and audience analytics and engagement. Weve added dozens of new reporting and editing positions across the country supported by grants partner contributions and sponsorship.
The Collaborative Journalism Network is seeking a Manager Business Strategy and Planning to help plan for and ensure financial sustainability for this work. The strategist will identify opportunities for new products and new revenue streams. The strategist will also help create business plans for new regional newsrooms as part of our effort to bring this model to more parts of the country. While the position is based at NPR the strategist will also work closely with finance and development leaders at the many stations involved in these collaborations.

This is an NPR editorial role covered under the terms of the NPR Ethics Handbook. All editorial staff are bound by this guidance. Editorial staff are defined as staff members who play a role in shaping the journalistic or creative direction of NPRs content including events.

Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $105000-$122500 annually plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPRs benefits options.
