The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant IIto work in our NEW Urbandale Clinic. Our medical assistants are responsible to help a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met and provides access to additional care options. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment rich with opportunities for learning and growth. Duties to include:
- Staff will support our Urbandale Clinic and will float to multiple locations/clinics based on staffing need.
- Under direct supervision of physician physician assistant nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
- Performs technical patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
- Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Schedule: Variable hours 8am - 5:30pm Monday through Friday; no weekends no on call no holidays

Pay Grade: 9 - $60760.80(based on years of experience)
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Certification as a Medical AssistantOR
- Registration as a Medical AssistantOR
- Completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant ProgramORCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology medical terminology basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
Special Qualification:
- Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
- Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Previous (minimum 2 year) experience as a Medical Assistant
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience in a pediatric clinic
- Previous experience in a pediatric/adult specialty clinic
- Previous phlebotomy experience
- Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR Epic Word etc.
