Job Description

Lunch/Recess Monitor

Champlain Elementary

Champlain Elementary School in the Burlington School District seeks a reliable lunch monitor who enjoys working with children whilemaintaining a safe school climate. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Champlain school community and may already be working part-time in the district.

Duties

Establish positive relationships with all students equally.

Teach and reinforce cafeteria rules.

Carry out the Champ Card positive reinforcement system.

Collaborate and communicate with other lunch monitors teachers and administration.

Work Hours
This is a school-year position that begins August 27th 2025.

Hours are 11:30am - 1:00pm on every school day. May vary depending on school schedule.

Working Conditions:
These are the physical and mental/reasoning requirements of the position as it is typically performed. The inability to meet one or more of these physical or mental/reasoning requirements will not automatically disqualify a candidate or employee from the position.

  • Lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.; pushing/pulling objects

  • Standing sitting climbing stooping kneeling crawling balancing

  • Possible exposure to heat cold noise dust fumes or hazardous materials

  • Work at heights or around electrical/mechanical equipment

  • Basic sense of touch smell and taste
  • Works independently and collaboratively with regular face-to-face interaction
