Job Description
Data Services:
As an Engineering Manager of Data Services you will be a trailblazer building and leading a high-performing engineering team. Your team will initially focus on building a self-served exa-byte scale Data Services for ingestion stream data processing serving. You will set a high technical bar champion Robloxs leadership principles and drive the delivery of innovative products that delight our users.
You Will:
- Build and Lead: Attract hire mentor and inspire a diverse team of exceptional engineers. Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone thrives.
- Set the Bar: Establish and maintain a high standard for technical excellence. Ensure your team delivers reliable scalable and secure solutions that adhere to Robloxs engineering principles.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managersdata engineers data scientists and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the overall engineering strategy for Roblox. Find opportunities for innovation and growth and prioritize projects that deliver the most value to our users.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within your team. Encourage experimentation knowledge sharing and adoption of new technologies.
You Have:
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading and scaling engineering teams ideally in a high-growth environment.
- 2 years of experience in engineering management - setting roadmap charter vision key metrics for the engineering team
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of data principles architectures and technologies.
- 8 years of experience with big data tools and technologies like Kafka Flink Druid Spark optimized Sql Map Reduce HDFS Hive
- Experience with programming languages like Golang Java Python Helm Terraform
- Experience working with Cloud providers like AWS - S3 EMR EKS
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field is a plus
- Roblox Alignment: Strong alignment with Robloxs leadership principles including a focus on respect safety creativity and community.
- Excellent Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport with team members stakeholders and leaders across the organization.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to break down complex challenges and develop creative solutions.
- Passion for Data : Data driven in decision making and eager to make Data Findable Accessible Interoperable and Reusable
