Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren GM Global Technical Center three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

As a leader you will be responsible for conducting purchasing activities to support sourcing contract and supplier management activities in line with departmental strategy and objectives. As a leader you will provide technical guidance to the team for successful execution of programs. You will take lead on the development of new products processes standards or operational plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Plan

  • Manage business plan/tactics to reach overall global targets on a day-to-day basis

  • Lead a small team of buyers to execute commercial strategies Supervise monitor and coach employees

  • Interface with Engineering Supply Chain CCA and other internal stakeholders to clarify prerequisites and to drive cost reduction and threat mitigation

  • Optimize supplier footprint

  • Analyze and apply appropriate tools i.e. cost models benchmarking global competitive sourcing value chain analysis supplier negotiations engineering change cost containment technical cost reduction part/system reuse etc.

  • Manage supplier relationships and operational issues

  • Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts practices and approaches.

  • Identify problems update or modify work methods that may be complex in the work area without the benefit of defined procedures.

  • Promote GMs values and makes customer-focused decisions. Hold accountability for staffing communicating training and development in addition to directing and prioritization of work evaluating performance and removing roadblocks.

  • Provides technical leadership to team and interacts and collaborates with multi-functional teams to meet targets.

  • Lead team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures.

  • Identify & lead staffing initiatives for work team

  • Conduct regularly scheduled group meetings communicating GM policies & procedures leadership and safety messages. You will craft specific to functional communication on vision & strategy which may include preparing and giving presentations.

  • Training & Developing: Ensures employees are in compliance with all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility. You will need to understands & support employees career development goals as well as develop and execute initiatives to improve/increase work team capability.

  • Delegation: Assigns and balances workload for direct reports. You will also set individual employee and group priorities.

  • Evaluating Performance and Behaviors: Offer direct hires candid & constructive feedback and facilitate performance interventions when necessary.

  • Recognition: Formally & informally recognize employees contributions. Timely and consistent feedback to direct employees as appropriate will be required. As supervisor you will also participate in compensation planning and administer compensation treatment.

  • Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing supply chain warehousingprogram/product management manufacturing logistics or product development

  • Experience managing multiple suppliers and vendors at once highly desirable

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Excel WordPowerPoint Outlook Teams Sharepoint OneDrive

  • Effective communicator with both verbal and written skills

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently

  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management

  • Must be willing to Travel 10% of the time Domestically Internationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Supply Chain Finance related field or equivalent work experience
