Job Description

TITLE: Food Pantry Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of SUN

SCHOOLS SITES: Lane Middle School and Reynolds Middle School

COMPENSATION: $20.07 hourly non-exempt Part-time 20 hours per week


ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Latino Networks mission is to provide transformative opportunities services and advocacy for the education leadership and civic engagement of our youth families and communities. Our work springs from the core belief in Latino community self-determination that is the ability of community members to participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their lives and the lives of their families. We actively partner across a variety of city county state and community organizations to deliver training and support a wide range of services as well as influence policy.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Latino Network seeks a bilingual mission-driven professional with bi-cultural proficiency and proven nonprofit and community experience to help lead a full range of food pantry activities for a growing organization. As part of a dedicated team working toward a shared vision the Food Pantry Coordinator is charged with supporting the SUN School Site Manager with Food Pantry operations.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations of SUN School Food Pantry programs at multiple sites. Main tasks include: placing and picking up food orders each week overseeing food distributions one evening per week and under the direction of the SUN School Site Manager assisting with managing the Food Pantry volunteers.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Food Pantry Operations

  • Understand and adhere to food safety guidelines and successfully partner with the Oregon Food Bank.
  • Place food orders for SUN School Food Pantries.
  • In partnership with SUN School Site Manager identify and establish new sources of food donations and accept them including donations from local community members as applicable.
  • Order and accept food delivery from various places such as the Oregon Food Bank
  • Organize all pantry items in pantry space provided: stock shelves as needed ensure food program inventory is adequate and all required standards are met.
  • With guidance from supervisor: recruit train and organize volunteer teams to assist with setup and distribution.
  • Ensure everyone follows all OFB standards for food handling storage set up and distribution.
  • Maintain a clean food storage area and equipment: defrost freezer clean refrigerator check equipment monthly check freezer and refrigerator temperature logs and rotation of food.


Administrative

  • With guidance from the supervisor develop plans to recruit train and supervise volunteers.
  • Work creatively and collaboratively with the supervisor and school pantries to ensure the community is aware of the service provided.
  • Compile and report required statistical information for the agency and OFB to submit monthly.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups. -Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth parents and diverse communities and cultures and communicate effectively with those whose English language skills are limited.


Requirements

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience; preferably within the field of non-profit emergency assistance community outreach services or pantry/food assistance programs preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to follow directions and have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and ability to communicate professionally with clients families service providers community members and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English- ability to translate/interpret orally in Spanish for families is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly work at the SUN Site Schools and their community as needed;
  • Reliable car drivers license and automobile liability insurance;
  • Must be eligible to be an insured driver under Latino Networks Commercial Auto Liability
  • May require heavy lifting and walking during events and outreach activities;
  • Undergoing and passing a criminal background check is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Latino Network is a fast-paced highly engaged work environment with satellite operations with positions performing work both onsite and remotely. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
