Position Overview:

The Raw Material Engineer is responsible for evaluating and optimizing raw materials used in manufacturing processes. This role involves testing material properties ensuring compliance with industry standards and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve material performance and reduce costs.

What Youll Do:

Material Evaluation & Testing - Collaborate closely with the Product Integrity and Compliance team to ensure all materials meet regulatory and quality standards.

  • Conduct laboratory tests on raw materials to assess quality durability and suitability for intended applications.
  • Partner with Product Integrity to analyze product failure data identify trends and determine root causes.
  • Perform experimental tests and material characterizations in alignment with compliance protocols and product safety requirements.

Material Development & Selection

  • Develop new materials or improve existing ones to meet product specifications.
  • Recommend materials based on design objectives such as strength weight cost and environmental impact.
  • Guide suppliers in developing robust processes for raw material production.

Process Optimisation

  • Work with production teams to implement new materials and improve existing processes.
  • Monitor material performance and deterioration over time.
  • Design and direct testing procedures for material fabrication and joining.

Compliance & Documentation - Collaborate with the Product Integrity and Compliance team to ensure all materials meet safety environmental and regulatory standards.

  • Prepare detailed reports in coordination with PIC presenting findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain thorough documentation aligned with audit requirements and quality assurance protocols in partnership with the compliance team.

Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality and consistency of raw materials.
  • Guide suppliers in developing robust processes and implementing controls.

Lets Talk About You:

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Science Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 35 years of experience in materials engineering preferably with raw materials.
  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy polymers ceramics and composites (for trims role).
  • Proficiency in CAD and materials simulation software.
  • Familiarity with testing procedures and industry standards.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation abilities.
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and material flow optimization.
