John Paul College Frankston is a Catholic co-educational secondary school with a rich heritage in the traditions of the FCJ sisters and the Marianists. We are currently inviting applications from dedicated and qualified professionals who are seeking a new leadership opportunity in 2026. We are looking for a suitably qualified Learning Area Leader - Religious Education.

About the Role:

The Learning Area Leader is a key leadership role within the College and is responsible for leading excellence in learning and teaching. As a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee the Learning Area Leader reports to the Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Model inspire and support staff and students with a focus on improving student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Foster reflective practice professional dialogue and collaboration among staff.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the curriculum requirements and student needs.
  • Assist with the induction and mentoring of new staff support staff in goal setting and progress and promote external professional learning opportunities.
  • Ensure the learning and teaching program reflects College goals and complies with relevant authorities. Embed cross-curriculum priorities and initiate curriculum innovation.

Key Selection Criteria:

    • A demonstrated understanding and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A demonstrated knowledge of your teaching area including sound knowledge of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and / or Victorian Curriculum studies.
    • Demonstrated commitment to achieving best practice in teaching and learning especially for students with diverse / ongoing needs.
    • A well articulated vision of contemporary pedagogical approaches.
    • An ability to work with others towards a common goal.
    • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.

    Position Details:

    • Commencing in Term 1 2026
    • POL3 with a time allowance: 0.227 FTE (10 / 44 periods per cycle).
    • This POL position is for a two-year period with the successful candidate receiving an ongoing teaching contract.
