Library Assistant ()
Are you a service-driven person with a passion for helping others and supporting students for learning The University Library at Hong Kong Baptist University is seeking a half-time Library Assistant to join our User Services Team at the Au Shue Hung Memorial Library (Main Library). This half-time position is focused primarily on providing high-quality counter services.
Responsibilities:
- Providing excellent counter services with empathy professionalism and courtesy;
- Taking up counter shifts (especially on evenings/ Saturdays/ Sundays/public holidays) for no less than 20 hours per week;
Counter service hours during term time
Mon - Fri: 6:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (Exam period: till 9:00 p.m.)
Sat: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sun: 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Counter service hours during summer
Mon Fri: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sat: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sun: Closed
- Handling basic enquiries in person or by phone; and
- Assisting in any other tasks assigned by the supervisors to support library operations.
Requirements:
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
- Hands-on knowledge of MS Office applications;
- Qualification or work experience in the library field is preferred but not essential; and
- Familiarity with Alma (integrated library system) is an advantage.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
