Position Description:
The Director of Donor Engagement leads Phoenix Rescue Missions donor engagement and direct response fundraising efforts. This position is responsible for managing a team that oversees annual giving strategies including direct mail digital fundraising monthly giving donor acquisition and retention donor services and CRM administration. The Director will lead key vendor relationships with external direct response and digital agencies ensuring strategic execution aligned with PRMs mission and fundraising goals.
The Director is expected to foster a collaborative high-performing team culture centered on exceptional donor experience data-informed strategy and faithful stewardship.
The Director will collaborate across development marketing and operations and will be instrumental in optimizing donor communications segmentation strategies and data processes.

Essential Functions:
Management and Leadership
- Lead and manage the Donor Engagement team including hiring performance management coaching and professional development.
- Serve as a visionary leader to develop and implement innovative big-picture strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Collaborate across Development teams to provide timely communication on revenue gifts impact calendar and campaign results.
Fundraising
- Execute strategic and timely planning and implementation of annual giving efforts including digital and print direct response campaigns.
- Manage vendor relationships with direct response and digital fundraising agencies ensuring quality timely delivery accountability and alignment with PRM goals.
- Collaborate with the CDO and agencies to develop strategies to grow PRMs monthly giving pre-mid and donor upgrade programs.
- Partner with the CDO agencies and development teams to develop and implement strategies for new donor acquisition new and existing donor cultivation and lapsed donor reactivation so that every donor has a plan.
- Develop and track goals to improve retention donor value and revenue for monthly and pre-mid/major donors.
Donation Processing and Data Analytics
- Ensure timely and accurate donor gift processing acknowledgments and customer service to become a center of excellence that transforms the donor experience and increases donor retention and revenue.
- Oversee the CRM Manager to implement CRM operations including timely revenue reports and KPIs for all development teams integrity of data automation segmentation and platform optimization.
- Implement donor-friendly experiences and receipting practices for GIK church and corporate donors.
- Analyze campaign performance donor trends and CRM metrics to continuously improve fundraising outcomes.
Ministerial
- Engage in discipleship and evangelical activities with donors as appropriate.
- Share what Jesus is doing at Phoenix Rescue Mission with donors.
- Maintain a Christ-centered team culture and lead opportunities for worship and spirituality on the team.
Other
- Demonstrate understanding and comply with all relevant legal regulatory and compliance requirements company policies and procedures and the Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Follow the Missions Statement of Faith and adhere to the Missions employee policy manual and guidelines set forth by the CEO.
- Perform other duties within scope as assigned contributing to the teams overall success in achieving excellence.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in communications marketing nonprofit management business administration or related field and at least 7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience resulting in strong demonstrated leadership administrative and supervisory skills.
- Experience managing direct response campaigns and outside fundraising vendors/agencies.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency with donor CRMs (preferably Virtuous) segmentation and donor journey strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in fundraising reporting and metrics.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building ability with a servant-leadership mindset.
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of donor engagement and direct response fundraising best practices.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and donor-centric messaging.
- High level of integrity discretion and accountability especially in working with donor data and financial information.
- Skilled in building relationships across departments and external partners.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to adapt and lead through change.
Additional Requirements:
- A solid and credible Christian witness and lifestyle that exemplifies Christ in character and actions ministering to those who support the Mission.
- Position may require weekend or evening responsibilities.
- Must meet and maintain the requirements of being an approved driver and driving a personal vehicle on Mission business.
