Position Summary
The CDL Vacuum Truck Operator plays a key role in our industrial cleaning operations. Operating specialized vacuum trucks you will be responsible for the safe and efficient removal of waste materials liquids and sludge from tanks pits vessels and other industrial structures. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols and DOT/OSHA regulations while delivering reliable service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Vacuum Truck Operations
- Safely operate CDL Class A or B vacuum trucks in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations.
- Perform removal of waste liquids sludge and debris from industrial facilities.
- Set up hoses attachments and equipment to complete cleaning tasks effectively.
Waste Handling & Compliance
- Transport and dispose of waste materials in compliance with local state and federal regulations.
- Identify and properly handle hazardous vs. non-hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate manifests logs and disposal records.
Equipment Care
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks.
- Report mechanical issues promptly; perform basic upkeep such as fluid checks and filter cleaning.
Safety & Reporting
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE usage confined space entry and lockout/tagout.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Document daily activities incidents and inspection reports accurately.
Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with supervisors project managers and team members.
- Assist crew members as needed supporting a collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a vacuum truck operator or similar role in an industrial cleaning or waste management environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of vacuum truck operations including setup operation and maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with waste management and disposal regulations including knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling.
- Understanding of relevant safety regulations such as OSHA standards and confined space entry procedures.
- Ability to operate and maneuver CDL Class A or B vacuum trucks safely and efficiently.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that may involve manual labor and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
