The Job:

As a Plant Manager youll be part of our team located in Montpelier IN. Youll get to drive all aspects of a manufacturing plant of metal fasteners:

Production Management:

  • Developing and implementing production schedules ensuring efficient workflow and meeting production targets.
  • Monitors plant performance by analyzing current and future activities cost efficiency of operations and providing feedback to senior leadership. Implement and utilize KPIs.

Personnel Management:

  • Supervising motivating and training plant staff including hiring and performance management.
  • Drive employee engagement programs for the productions areas at the site(s) with a strong focus on recognition.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensuring a safe working environment implementing safety protocols and adhering to all relevant regulations.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Overseeing maintenance and repair of plant equipment ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing downtime.

Cost Control:

  • Managing budgets controlling expenses and identifying opportunities to reduce the budgeted goals of the P&L for the plant. Review and approve expenses as per the DOA.

Quality Control:

  • Implementing quality control procedures and ensuring products meet quality : Assist in troubleshooting production issues and work closely with the quality team to develop standards as needed.

Strategic Planning:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve plant efficiency productivity and profitability.
  • Directs administers and coordinates the activities in support of the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Responsible for all production area management responsibilities including hiring training coaching performance management compensation planning and employee relations for assigned departments.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Preparing reports on plant performance analyzing data and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Continually measure progress to KPI goals (Safety Quality Delivery and Cost) and communicate to assigned personnel.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Liaising with other departments including sales purchasing and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate strategic objectives (KPIs) and messaging from Operations leadership to assigned production areas. Conduct daily GEMBA walks to measure achievement towards Key Performance Indicators and solicit process improvement ideas.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Initiate and drive change to implement lean principles and a lean management system across all functions within the plant.

The Person:

  • Bachelors degree is required with a concentration preference in manufacturing management or engineering
  • Management experience
  • 7 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • 3 - 5 years of management/Leadership experience
  • Experience in metal stamping or forging environment preferred
  • Effective budget management skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness of developing and managing teams
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities
  • Prior experience with Six Sigma and Lean principles preferred
  • Computer skills in Microsoft office particularly Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality and safety practices
  • Basic mathematical understanding and ability (add subtract divide units of measurement)
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals and teams at all levels of the company
