Job Summary

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player with relevant planning qualifications to take up the position of Executive Planner within the City Planning Department. The position contributes to the effective development co-ordination and management of planning and infrastructure delivery projects that meet Councils Vision and Delivery Program objectives. This position also provides guidance both within and outside Council that reflects Councils aspirations and goals and responds to the issues and challenges which are important to the City.

You will be part of a planning team that value the free exchange of ideas and knowledge collaboration quality output and raising each other up.

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in urban / town planning or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the formulation and implementation of strategic and land- use planning policy
  • Proven experience in effectively leading multi-disciplinary project teams responsible for examining complex and diverse planning issues
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience stakeholder and community engagement including the fostering and maintaining of relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical project management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks meet deadlines and achieve targets
  • Current Class C drivers licence

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience in a local government environment
  • Post graduate qualifications in urban planning / town planning or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of contributions plans and negotiation of voluntary planning agreements

Commencing salary: $116235.00 per annum plus 12% Superannuation.

Access to a Leaseback Vehicle or Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however it is not a condition of employment.

You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
