Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained by our client in the search for a Cost Estimator for their Richmond VA based Custom Residential Construction business.
Job Summary: Spruce Constructionis a leading custom home builder seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to join their team. As a Cost Estimator you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of their project cost estimates. Your expertise in cost estimation will directly impact the ability to deliver high-quality custom homes while adhering to budget constraints. Responsibilities:
- Project Evaluation: Assess project specifications blueprints and other relevant documents to understand the scope materials and labor requirements for custom home construction projects.
- Cost Estimation: Utilize industry-standard software and tools to prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates including materials labor equipment and subcontractor costs.
- Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed estimates for custom home construction projects ensuring that all relevant costs are accounted for and that bids are competitive in the market.
- Presentation Preparation: Assist the owner in preparing the visual presentation used in conjunction with the budget estimate as part of the estimate presentation meeting to potential clients.
- Budget Management: Work closely with Project Managers Selection Manager and clients to manage project budgets providing guidance on cost-saving strategies without compromising quality both pre-construction and during construction. Provide estimates for Change Orders as they arise during the course of construction.
- Selections: Assist Selection Manager with targeted selections with the clients i.e windows & doors garage doors.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations: Collaborate continuously with vendors suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the availability of materials and services. Responsible for signing up new vendors that fit with high expectations of quality.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of cost estimates historical data and project documentation to track project progress and provide accurate cost reports.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Architects Engineers Project Managers and Subcontractors to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends materials and construction methods to continually improve the accuracy and efficiency of the cost estimation processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in construction management engineering or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a cost estimator in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations (preferred).
- High energy and ability to be client-facing with exceptional client service skills
