Job Description

Multilingual Language Learner Director (PreK12)Location: East Providence Public SchoolsDepartment: Multilingual Language Learner (MLL) OfficeReports to: Superintendent &/or DesigneeStatus: Full-TimeDistrict Mission for MLLs:Multilingual Language Learners in East Providence will be provided a safe relationship-driven and language-rich learning environment that honors cultural and linguistic assets preparing students to achieve their full potential and advocate for themselves in and out of the Summary:Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or Designee this PreK12 administrative position is responsible for the development management and oversight of the districts Multilingual Language Learner (MLL) program. The MLL Director ensures equitable access to high-quality instruction for all MLL students by planning coordinating supervising and evaluating district-wide programs and services. This position serves as the districts primary liaison for state and federal requirements related to MLLs and leads initiatives that promote compliance best practices and family MLL Director plays a critical role in the districts efforts to close opportunity gaps promote equity and provide professional learning opportunities focused on strengthening the educational experience for our multilingual language learners. This role requires a deep understanding of language acquisition culturally responsive pedagogy and the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders across all :The responsibilities of the MLL Director include but are not limited to:Ensuring that the district complies with applicable federal and state laws and policies related to as the district point of contact with the state for all MLL-related information from the state to administrators and educators across the the accurate identification and placement of that the district reports MLLs in the MLL Census and that census data is and monitoring the language instruction educational program (LIEP) to ensure adherence to research-based best with the district assessment coordinator to manage the annual administration of ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 and Alternate Title III grant applications compliance and activities as well as state MLL categorical professional development for educators including ESOL bilingual/dual language and general education teachers to strengthen instructional student performance and MLL program data and developing targeted action plans to address identified and overseeing a reclassification process for students who meet state-defined exit that parents and families receive required notifications information and translation services under state and federal with families to review screening results and student the translation of district and school documents and managing interpretation state MLL meetings and district-level planning in school-based meetings (e.g. IEP 504) as requested to support MLL instruction providing feedback and sharing best practices in language acquisition and equitable initiatives that promote an asset-based mindset toward MLL students and their Knowledge and Skills:Strong knowledge of state and federal MLL regulations policies and compliance to collaborate with administrators staff families and community partners in a confidential and professional success in planning and implementing MLL programs and of WIDA standards assessments and instructional practices for multilingual understanding of second language acquisition bilingual/dual language models and immersion with Common Core State Standards and their intersection with MLL in data collection analysis and reporting for accountability and budget development and grant management communication skills (oral written and presentation) with diverse with technology including Microsoft Office Google Workspace and educational software to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining organization and attention to :Valid building or district-level administrator certification (required).Masters degree in ESL Bilingual Education or a related field from a regionally accredited of three (3) years experience in school/district administration with demonstrated success leading MLL programs. Demonstrated commitment to equity access and continuous professional in supporting linguistically and culturally diverse learners.
