Job Description
Position Title: Part-TimeSchool Nurse - 2 days per week (one year position)
Location: Galvin Middle School
Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Current R.N. license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing required
- BSN from an accredited School of Nursing required
- DESESchool Nursecertification
Dutiies & Responsibilites:
- Health assessment; medical treatment and health counseling of students;
- Medication administration; development implementation and ongoing evaluation of individualized medication administration care plans and individualized health care plans;
- Collaborate with other health care providers and school personnel regarding the health of students; provide emergency care to any individual in the case of injury or sudden illness;
- Organize and implement state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs (vision hearing postural etc.)
- Maintaincomprehensive school health records; prevention and control of communicable diseases within the schools;
- Maintain current information in a comprehensive school health records for each student based on nursing assessment and medical information using web-based program
- Provide training to staff members including but not limited to Epi-Pen training universal health precautions basic first aid etc.
- Adhere to various regulations related to confidentiality of information
- Respond to frequently encountered health issues providing counseling and crisis intervention when required including assessment treatment and referral
- Communicate the health status of pupils to the appropriate school personnel
- Attend team meetings for the development of IEP or 504 plans that require a medical component
- Assume responsibility for continuing own education and obtainconsultation supervision and peer review as needed
Compensation:commensurate with the Unit A salary scale
