EARLY PRIMARY TEACHER
Fulltime (1.0 FTE) position
Westcot Elementary School
Effective September 2 2025 until the return of the absent teacher
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59711 to $109520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
This position replaces a teacher on a leave of absence. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
A clear understanding of the characteristics of early primary students and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual physical social and emotional needs of this age group.
Current knowledge of play-based and place-based learning
Current knowledge of play-based and place-based learning
An understanding of the intellectual physical and emotional needs of primary aged students
Demonstrated ability and experience to teach assess and plan a primary program
A wide repertoire of strategies addressing assessment (formative summative and self)
A proven ability to frame the curriculum and classroom management around equity diversity inclusivity and reconciliation
Knowledge and experience in working with learners with varying needs; demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
Knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying needs
Strong interpersonal communication and collaborative skills and proven ability and commitment to work cooperatively and effectively with other educators
An understanding of the First Peoples Principles as they relate to the curriculum and our local context
Knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology (the ability to integrate various technologies into the curriculum modes of assessment and its use for student adaptations)
Proven ability to create a safe and caring learning environment for students using the principles of social-emotional learning
A strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders
