We are looking for educators whether new graduates or experienced primary or secondary trainedwho share our passion for holistic strengths-based education and believe every young person can re-engage and succeed.
Suitable candidates will be interviewed and if successful will be placed into an active talent pool with potential opportunities to be considered for future positions as they become available.
The daily casual relief teacher rate is $623 per day. Casual relief teachers will receive a full day rate even if they work less than a full day!
DescriptionIndie School provides students in Years 9 12 theopportunity to learn in a supportiveenvironment using individual learning plans tailored to each students own education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths and work to improve areas in which they lack confidence.
The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that ourfoundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice independence mutual respect and accountability all have a significant role to return for higher levels of self-responsibility thestudents can enjoy some greater freedoms.
Successful Applicants will be required to:
- Deliver the teaching program in line with appropriate curriculum.
- Have excellent teacher knowledge practice and professional engagement.
- Ensure an effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to students individual learning and pathways plans.
- Promote the schools alternative educational and strengths-based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are progressed with the focus onChanging the Lives of Young People.
- Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.
- Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
- Supporting students with a range of learning needs including disabilities behavioural disturbances Autism Spectrum Disorder ADD/ADHD low levels of literacy/numeracy and mental illness. This includes personalising the learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
- Embedding the strategies from Individual Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student.
- Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices).
- Behaviour management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to gain this knowledge).
- Supporting students to experience success.
Skills And ExperiencesFor this position with our company applicants must be willing and able to provide:
- National Police Check - issued in the 2 weeks prior to commencement
- Working with Children Check
- Hold a current Tasmanian teacher registration (TAS).
