Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and resourceful Unified Voice & Firewall Engineer to join our team. This is a critical role for our client who can expertly bridge the gap between our enterprise voice collaboration systems and our network firewall security. You will be a key player in ensuring secure reliable.
This is a unique long-term opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic cross-functional environment. While the ideal candidate will have extensive experience we are open to strong candidates with a passion for excellence and a proven track record of success. We are also open to considering two separate resources for the voice and firewall aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Voice and Unified Communications (UC) Management:
- Administer and support Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) Webex Calling and Webex Contact Center.
- Manage and maintain voice recording platforms (Cistera or similar).
- Oversee the entire certificate lifecycle including deployment renewal and securing certificates for voice systems.
- Monitor voice system performance using tools such as LogicMonitor WhatsUp Gold or SolarWinds to ensure optimal quality of service and uptime.
- Network Firewall Security:
- Configure administer and maintain enterprise firewalls with a primary focus on Cisco ASA/FTD and Fortinet FortiGate.
- Implement robust firewall policies Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) Network Address Translation (NAT) and Access Control Lists (ACLs) to secure the universitys network.
- Proactively identify and address security vulnerabilities and risks.
- Cross-Functional Engineering:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting complex issues that span both the voice and security domains.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure voice and network systems are integrated seamlessly and securely.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations procedures and troubleshooting steps.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Hands-on experience in both Voice/Unified Communications engineering and Firewall administration. While 6 years of experience is preferred we value expertise and demonstrated capability over a specific number of years.
- Voice/UC Expertise:
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco CUCM Webex Calling Webex Contact Center and SIP trunks.
- Proven experience with voice system integration.
- Proficiency with voice recording platforms.
- Network Security Expertise:
- Expertise in Cisco ASA/FTD and Fortinet FortiGate administration is a must.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls is a strong plus.
- In-depth knowledge of firewall policies VPNs NAT and ACLs.
- Certifications:
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Collaboration CCNP Security Fortinet NSE or PCNSE are highly preferred.
- Monitoring & Tools:
- Familiarity with network and performance monitoring tools like WhatsUp Gold LogicMonitor or SolarWinds.
