Position Overview:
Caterpillar is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer to lead process development equipment introduction and manufacturing design activities at our Hodges facility. This role will focus on new capital introduction manufacturing design and implementation of manipulators and lifting devices to improve safety quality and productivity in heavy equipment manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in manufacturing design and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead New Capital Introduction (NCI) projects from concept through implementation for manufacturing systems and equipment.
- Design specify and implement manipulators lifting devices and other ergonomic solutions for production.
- Provide manufacturing design expertise for layouts tooling fixtures and material handling solutions.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency safety and product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering safety quality and production) to integrate new equipment into operations.
- Support the installation validation and handoff of new equipment to production teams.
- Develop and maintain process documentation work instructions and equipment specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs cycle time and safety risks.
- Ensure compliance with Caterpillar standards OSHA and other safety/regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer in a production environment.
- Hands-on manufacturing design experience (fixtures tooling layouts manipulators lifting devices).
- Experience with new capital introduction projects and production equipment setup.
- Strong understanding of ergonomic design and safety standards in manufacturing.
- Excellent communication problem-solving and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in heavy equipment or automotive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar) for manufacturing design.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement practices.
- Prior Caterpillar or large OEM experience.
