PCR Scientist - Group Leader

The qualified applicant will perform selected quality control testing activities dependent upon assigned area including the following:

• Responsible for conducting in process and finished product testing according to standard operating procedures.
• Completes appropriate documentation supporting testing procedures including data capture forms equipment logbooks and inventory forms.
• Enters data evaluated for compliance to specifications and reports abnormalities.
• Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures and maintenance schedules
• Maintains supply levels to support performance of assigned duties.
• Reads understands and follows SOPs and complies with cGMPs
• Applies critical thought to solving problems.
• Performs laboratory testing as assigned and per schedule

Leadership responsibilities will include:

• Lead a team of scientists in a regulated facility
• Coordinate support and monitor performance of team through quality metrics while ensuring client deadlines are met
• Coordinate with client contacts to communicate status of deliverables determine priorities and set timelines.
• Set individual and team goals to develop the scope of work and responsibilities of the team
• Manage time off and payroll entries of the team
• May participate in new hire interviews
• Supports the on-boarding process of new employees
• Participates in training of other employees
• Ensure compliance with SOPs

Qualifications :

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• BS/MS in biological or chemical science (chemistry or biochemistry etc.) with at least 2 years of experience in laboratory industry environment preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Ability to plan and carry out laboratory operations efficiently and effectively maintaining accurate records of all experiments and data.
• Experience in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Quality Control experience
• GMP experience
• Hands on experience with PCR and/or capillary electrophoresis desired

Position is full-time Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.  Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Frederick MD are encouraged to apply. The compensation range for the role is between $35-42/hr
