Job Description

The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government City agencies and City employees vendors with City contracts individuals and entities that receive City funds.

DOIs Squad 1 conducts investigations into corruption fraud waste and other criminal conduct occurring at or involving the Department of Correction Department of Probation and Board of Correction. Squad 1 seeks a Senior Investigative Attorney/Assistant Inspector General who will be primarily responsible for planning managing and supervising the Squads sex crimes investigations including the drafting or editing of reports and policy and procedure recommendations derived from those investigations. The Senior Investigative Attorney/Assistant Inspector General may also play a limited role in managing or assisting in larger complex investigations into fraud waste or other criminal activity. The ideal candidate will have prior experience investigating allegations of sexual misconduct and extensive legal or policy writing experience.

If selected the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background addition for positions that have a law enforcement and/or investigative function the candidates consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation and as otherwise permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).

Qualifications :

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school; Active bar membership from any of the 50 states District of Columbia Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands; a minimum of three years of recent full-time relevant legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar.
