  • Maintain create and curate day-to-day content for multiple units social media channels.
  • Develop and execute student engagement strategies specific to varying social media platforms. (Instagram Facebook YouTube LinkedIn)
  • Assist in the development of marketing campaigns to promote Academic Success initiatives such as events and campaigns for multiple units.
  • Assist Digital Media Coordinator Communication Coordinator and Event Coordinators within units sponsorships that support unit events.
  • Actively participate in departmental events to capture and promote events in the moment for live footage (Facebook Live/Stories Instagram Live/Stories YouTube Live)
  • Enhance and maintain Academic Success units individual branding within marketing initiatives.
  • Work directly with members of the Digital Media team to collaborate on marketing strategies and content creation.
  • Utilize the Team Dynamics workspace to mark task accomplishment and record work time.
  • Assist create and implement social media calendars for units.
  • Be present for departmental events relevant to the position. These events may fall outside of the standard work week hours and may require travel.
  • Understand target audiences by obtaining knowledge of past current and future trends to successfully aid in trend-forecasting to create content.
  • Maintain consistent and appropriate communications with Supervisors and Student Intern team.

Work Schedule
10-15 hours per week

  7. Ability to work in office and on location for assignments.
  8. Intermediate experience knowledge and skills with Canva and / or Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Premier Pro Adobe Photoshop Adobe Lightroom Adobe Express) as demonstrated in theapplication materials.


  1. Experience with Meta Business Suite or similar social media management platformsas demonstrated in theapplication materials.
  2. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 as demonstrated in theapplication materials.
  3. Experience with filming and editing short form mobile video content (Instagram reels editor TikTok editor Premiere Pro)as demonstrated in theapplication materials.
  4. Self-starter who can take artistic direction and contribute original ideas in a collaborate manner within the teamas demonstrated in theapplication materials.
  5. Ability to focus and work on multiple projects simultaneouslyas demonstrated in theapplication materials.
  6. Knowledge of the principles and practices of digital in-person and print based marketing.
  7. Knowledge of management and planning strategies for design focused collaborative projects.


Position Overview
In Academic Success we support the intellectual engagement and pursuit of learning by KU students throughout their academic career from orientation to graduation and beyond.

Additional Candidate Instruction
To ensure full consideration please submit an application resume cover letter expressing your interest in the position and 3-5 examples of content created for social media. These examples should include: a variety of projects on multiple platforms with varying purposes. Please provide a short description of each project and what programs were used to create and share the final product.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
