As a pivotal member of the School of Education and Professional Studies the Placements Officer plays a vital role in shaping the student experience through the coordination and support of professional placements. Working in close collaboration with academic leads and valued industry partners this position ensures the seamless delivery of placement programs across designated disciplines. With a strong focus on operational excellence stakeholder engagement and student support the Placements Officer serves as a key point of contact for students staff and external agencies offering expert guidance and practical solutions. This role may also involve the supervision of administrative staff contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment that supports the Universitys commitment to professional readiness and community engagement.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Support the allocation and coordination of student placements in collaboration with the Professional Experience Office and academic leads.
- Establish and maintain accurate student records in the placement database ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Manage placement provision and academic supervision allocation in consultation with stakeholders and colleagues.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with industry partners and relevant external stakeholders.
- Provide policy and procedural advice to students staff and stakeholders; contribute to procedure development aligned with University policy and legislation.
- Support quality assurance processes for professional practice education and maintain up-to-date guidance materials for students and providers.
About you
The successful candidate will hold an associate diploma or certificate level qualification with relevant subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or training.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating student placements within an educational or professional setting including working collaboratively with academic staff and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with health and safety and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students staff and industry partners.
- Sound knowledge of relevant policies procedures and legislation governing student placements and the ability to provide accurate advice and contribute to procedural development.
- Experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement processes particularly in relation to professional practice education and student support materials.
- Proficiency in using placement databases and digital systems with a high level of attention to detail and data integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team including supervising administrative staff and contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.

This is a fixed term (until February 2026) full-time position and will be primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan) or Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith Universitys campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul Yuggera Jagera Turrbal Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $79705 - $89416 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package is in the range $93255 - $104617 per annum.
