CLOSING DATE: Open continuously with bi-weekly reviews

POSITION: Short Notice Bus Driver

SALARY: $20.99 Hour

REPORTS TO: PSIS Transportation Supervisor

LOCATION: PSIS- Omak Washington

BASIC FUNCTIONS: This is a Non-Exempt position. Short Notice Bus Drivers is an on call position. Applicants must be available to work at a moments notice and report to work with in an hour of being called in for work. The incumbent of this position will transport children between two locations the childs home and Paschal Sherman Indian School on a regularly scheduled route. The incumbent of this position will drive a 20 and up passenger bus and will also insure passenger safety general bus cleaning/vehicle maintenance

Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED
  • Requires a valid Washington State Drivers License with Bus driver endorsement CDL with Passenger Endorsement and S Endorsement.
  • Requires a current Doctors Physical Examination Card.
  • Requires First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment and maintaining said certification for the duration of employment.
  • Requiresthree written letters of recommendation upon submission of application.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires skills to be a self motivator and able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Requires skills to maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
  • Requires well developed oral communication skills to convey information to parents/guardians and community members as well as work cooperatively with a diverse population of children and parents/families.
  • Requires the ability to be willing to work occasional flexible hours.
  • Requires the ability to have maintained a substance free lifestyle for the last year and continue maintaining throughout employment.
  • Requires signing and adhering to the Tribes substance and abuse policy in addition to submitting to program testing procedures.
  • Requires the ability to successfully pass criminal history and background inquiry including fingerprinting that indicates no conviction of child abuse neglect or serious felony prior to reporting to work.
  • Requires providing a yearly Drivers Abstract and CDL physical as continued employment is contingent upon clearances on an ongoing basis.
  • Requires the ability to understand and execute instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
  • Requires the ability to keep clear and accurate reports and correspondence.
  • Requires the ability to promptly respond to child/parent/guardian needs and respond positively to potentially emotional requests for service and assistance.
  • Requires the ability to work effectively and respectfully within the Colville Tribal Community and Culture.
  • Requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Requires the ability to stand walk sit for prolonged periods of time liftand carry as well as to bend and twist body whileperforming normal duties.
  • Requires sufficient strength to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug addition this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle addition this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
