Job Description

Hourly Rate: $17.50

Catholic Charities of Baltimore Our Daily Bread is currently looking for a Security Program Assistant for Our Daily Bread Employment Center a program in Baltimore City. The Security Program Assistant provides supportive security-related services at Our Daily Bread Employment Center. The Security Program Assistant supports this purpose by providing information assistance support and security to staff clients and volunteers in the daily operations of the facility

Our Daily Bread is located in the Our Daily Bread Employment Center and provides a hot nutritious lunch for anyone in need every day of the year. It serves as a gateway to a wealth of other services in the facility including legal services health care employment opportunities and government benefits. Breakfast is served every weekday to the elderly and those with special needs. The work schedule is Saturday and Sunday 8am - 4pm.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Patrol and monitor the entire facility
  • Respond to and handle all security calls
  • Challenge any unauthorized person and escort them from the premises
  • Enforce compliance of all ODBEC policies and procedures
  • De-escalate heated situations calmly with tact and common sense
  • Interact with clients in a dignified and respectful manner. Contributes to the spirit of hospitality and welcoming of clients volunteers and visitors. Set a positive example of courteous and concerned behavior towards others.
  • Be observant and attentive and report any unlawful activity any suspected incidents of theft or misappropriation safety concerns fire hazards and other security concerns to your supervisor

REQUIRMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • One year of related experience working with the homeless or at-risk populations preferred
  • Prior security experience preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to intervene between 2 or more people in a non-violent manner.
  • Must display an interest in a team work approach and be able to foster an atmosphere of hospitality.
  • Must be physically capable of moving throughout the building including standing for long periods of time and going up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to work regardless of weather conditions and inclement weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to move throughout the building inside and outside including climbing be able to lift up to 50 pounds have the ability to stand 90% of the shift with intermittent bending
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
