Job Description
AGENCY OVERVIEW
The Jefferson County Sheriffs Office (JCSO) is in Louisville Kentucky and serves as the largest Sheriffs Office and fourth largest law enforcement agency in the state. Its approximately 250 sworn 60 civilian and 75 volunteer Reserve Deputies perform its main duties of providing court security serving court orders and collecting property taxes. The members of JCSO also serve the community by supporting the work of local charitable organizations and providing a positive presence that ensures the safety of residents of Jefferson County.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The TaxDivisionof the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office performs duties related to property tax collection. The location of this position is Downtown Louisville at 515 West Market Street. Working hours are 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday.
Reports directly to the Director of Fiscal Management.
Supervises the daily activities of Tax Collection personnel under the authority of the Director of Fiscal Management.
Accurately evaluates performance of staff.
Trains and supervises seasonal employees hired to answer phones during tax season.
Works tactfully and diplomatically with the public other agencies department heads and supervisors and co-workers to provide advice assistance and counsel.
Maintain and implement new and existing policies and procedures; create and maintain procedure manual for tax department.
Establishes and maintains a variety of files and records reports and other materials.
Performs computer data entry on an as needed basis.
Performs additional duties as assigned/needed on a temporary basis.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must have two years of supervisory experience.
Graduate of two-year business college in Business Accounting Finance or a related field. An equivalent amount of related experience may substitute for education.
SALARY/BENEFITS
The minimum salary for this position is $75000annually.
Employees participate in the Non-Hazardous Duty retirement under CERS offered by the KPPA.
JCSO pays 100% medical premiums for single coverage and 90% for other plan levels.
