Job Duties

This incumbent will lead the Office of Radiological Health. The Office of Radiological Health is responsible for designing new programs that regulates and respond new technologies in the field to include but not limited to fusion small modular reactors ect. This position directs activities identified by agency executive management as key to the agency the agency mission and critical to agency credibility. This incumbent will oversee a comprehensive and diverse system of statewide programs and services. The incumbent will be responsible for all operational technical administrative and programmatic activities associated with service delivery. Certain actions are long range in nature and include supervision of program staff; consultation; resource acquisition and utilization; control of programs and services; strategic planning; and frequent contact with elected officials regulatory entities private sector executives and other agency directors to address inquiries or studies. This position reports to the Commissioner Deputy Commissioner or Associate Commissioner.

This Director role is responsible for assuring the Office of Radiological Health meets the responsibility and role in protecting the public from unnecessary radiation exposure caused by a wide spectrum of applications used in a variety of industries including energy and healthcare. The Office oversees key areas to include radioactive materials x-ray machines environmental monitoring emergency preparedness and response and radon.


Minimum Qualifications

Experience leading motivating and managing a team including managing multiple staff and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Experience developing and implementing policy development processes and administrative regulations.
Experience developing and executing long-term strategic plans for organizational operations.
Knowledge of national regional and state health care issues health care service delivery organization operations and management.
Knowledge of management information systems modern business practices and sound financial management principles; ability to interpret and consistently apply public health law and regulations.
Experience communicating in an effective manner to a diverse and large constituency including other executive branch agencies and elected officials; and ability to plan organize direct and evaluate the work of others in large and complex public/private partnerships.
Experience building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including internal teams external partners and government entities.
Experience working in the field of radiological health to include but not limited to x-rays radioactive materials environmental monitoring.
Experience working with federal regulatory agencies
Experience Supervising employees

Additional Considerations

Progressively responsible administrative and managerial experience in a governmental/quasi-governmental agency
Experience in a leadership role in radiological health or related field.
