Job Description

Summary:


Responsible for the professional setup installation and operation of stage lighting/electrics. Position is additionally responsible for loading in setting up and loading out of all equipment necessary for each service ensuring it is done in a safe and timely manner.


Duties:

  • Oversee lighting/electric needs for all DSO concerts and various events
  • Assist Stage Manager with all operations of DSO concerts and various events
  • Oversee the setup installation operations storage and maintenance of all lighting/electrics at the highest standard
  • Assist Stage Manager in supervising union stage hands ensuring that safety and backstage protocols are followed
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of all lighting equipment and practices
  • Ensure appropriate lighting levels needed for all rehearsals and performances while collaborating with the video team on best lighting for video recordings
  • In consultation with the Director of Orchestra Operations and Pops Programming and Stage Manager acquire all lighting and miscellaneous equipment required for orchestra services and related events
  • Assist with technical installations and operations including but not limited to: video screens click track stand lights audio equipment backline
  • Accurately set the stage as needed for the orchestra based on provided schematics
  • Move all equipment instruments and staging elements in accordance with best practices and stage schematics provided


Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field and at least 5 years of stage lighting experience with a professional arts organization/venue
  • Respect for music professionals including conductors musicians stage technicians and production staff
  • Strong organizational interpersonal supervisory and communication skill
  • Ability to read music and maintain accuracy responsiveness attention to detail and follow-up
  • Energy and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced symphony orchestra environment
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Supervisory experience preferred
