Job Description

Job Title: Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist Lewisham London

Banding: Band 6/7

Location: Lewisham

Start Date: ASAP

Hourly rate: 24.00-32.00 an hour

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday

Contract Length: 12 weeks initially

Car Driver: Not essential Lewisham is accessible via public transport

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic team supporting children aged 5 to 18 across mainstream primary and secondary schools in Lewisham.

Based at the Kaleidoscope centre in Catford this role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative and forward-thinking department dedicated to improving outcomes for children with a range of speech language and communication needs.

This position is ideal for a therapist with experience in paediatrics who is confident working independently and contributing to multi-disciplinary approaches. Youll be part of a supportive team that values innovation reflective practice and child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Independently assess diagnose manage and evaluate outcomes for children with a range of speech language and communication difficulties including highly complex cases.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments and interventions that are child-centred and outcome-focused.
  • Support the development and delivery of innovative therapy approaches and service models.
  • Monitor progress and maintain evidence-based clinical practice with sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Oversee your caseload identifying areas of risk emerging needs and service development opportunities.
  • Provide professional advice to support Education and Health Care Needs Assessments and Plans.
  • Maintain professional accountability and supervise junior staff within clinical boundaries.
  • Adhere to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust protocols and service guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records and reports.
  • Participate in clinical and safeguarding supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Experience working with children and young people in educational settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A reflective and proactive approach to clinical practice and service improvement.
