Overview
M&J Engineering P.C. is a quality provider of multi-discipline consulting services with over 300 employees. Since its inception in 2004 M&J has grown into diversified provider of engineering construction management construction inspection technology and environmental services to a broad range of clients including federal state and city/local agencies private owners architects engineers and contractors.
M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection ITS mechanical electrical wastewater water supply tunnel airport port marine/coastal environmental engineering and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.
The Assistant Vice President oversees and directs construction management and civil engineering design teams at M&J. This leadership role ensures timely project completion adherence to design requirements and alignment with company standards. The position reports to the Senior Vice President or designated supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Develop and generate business with major state agencies and municipalities in Massachusetts (e.g. MassDOT MBTA Massport MWRA City of Boston City of Cambridge).
- Lead and support engineering teams fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Manage all future work in Massachusetts including budgeting and strategic planning.
- Allocate resources to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and conduct regular audits.
- Communicate planning objectives and results to senior management.
- Conduct market research and identify growth opportunities.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and lead initiatives to expand market share.
- Oversee recruitment daily workflow and project plan approvals.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget and efficiently.
- Establish and implement strategic direction for engineering and development.
- Align departmental actions with M&Js business plan and vision.
- Implement engineering policies standards and security measures.
- Negotiate contracts and coordinate contractor work.
- Mentor mid-level directors and managers across engineering and operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree inCivil Engineeringor a closely related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensein Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering management or project leadership and 20 years of experience in the civil engineering/construction management industry.
- Proven experience working with Massachusetts agencies such as MassDOT MBTA or Massport.
- Strong leadership communication and strategic planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets teams and complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Engineering Business Administration or related discipline.
- Experience in business development and client relationship management.
- Familiarity with City of Boston and City of Cambridge procurement processes.
- Experience mentoring engineering professionals and managing cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation and infrastructure regulations.
Salary range $200000 to $225000 depending on education qualifications and experience
