Job Description

Position Summary

Prepare and administer laboratory assignments in laboratories on multiple Calhoun instructional sites which provide practical experiences for the student.

Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E2 Grade 3: $45220 - $62710
(Salary within this range is determined by your documented years of full-time related work experience )

WorkHours: Monday through Friday 40 hours per week. Work hours will vary based on schedule of classes in the day and evening program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assign and direct lab exercises utilizing various software programs such as Solidworks and AutoCAD.
  2. Supervise assist instruct and evaluate students on various Additive Manufacturing and 3D scanning equipment.
  3. Advise and assist students with classwork and homework in Engineering Design Additive Manufacturing and other technical program areas as directed.
  4. Administer grade and record written and practical exams including make-up exams.
  5. Assist with classroom management of large classes of students enrolled in all technical programs.
  6. Actively participate in BEST Robotics and SkillsUSA activities.
  7. Assist in writing and revising lab instructions and materials.
  8. Maintain student records.
  9. Provide laboratory evaluation for each student.
  10. Prepare equipment and activities for labs.
  11. Maintain operation of lab equipment.
  12. Troubleshoot equipment issues and work with support and arrange service calls for equipment repair and preventive maintenance as applicable.
  13. Stay current with advancing technologies and facilitate implementation in the lab environment.
  14. Order and restock lab consumable products.
  15. Follow all department policies.
  16. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  17. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of an Associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing Additive Manufacturing Engineering Design Technology or a related field from an accredited institution is required ORa minimum of a high school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a related field is required.
  2. A minimum of one(1) year of experience with Solidworks or a Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA) designation is required.
  3. Training or knowledge with AutoCAD is required.
  4. Documented evidence in the proficiency of the use of the internet e-mail and computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  1. Industry experience in Advanced Manufacturing Additive Manufacturing or Engineering Design Technology;
  2. Experience in the operation of additive manufacturing systems (such as Stratasys Fortus systems Stratasys Polyjet systems GE Concept Laser MLab systems Formlabs SLA printers and desktop FFF printers) or a willingness to learn;
  3. Experience with Scanning equipment and software (such as FaraArm 3D Capture Design X and GOM Inspect) or a willingness to learn;
  4. Willingness to stay current on upcoming standards technologies and solutions in Engineering Design Technology and Additive Manufacturing;
  5. Working knowledge of ANSI Engineering Drawing Standards including GD&T;
  6. Experience in Revit Chief Architect and Lumion or a willingness to learn in order to help the day students;
  7. Documented evidence of ability to stay current with advancing technologies and implementation into the lab environment;
  8. Proficient in drafting and 3D programs;
  9. Prior experience in supervising personnel;
  10. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  11. Willingness to work directly with students in a lab setting;
  12. Ability to work independently;
  13. Certifications or accomplishments in the field;
  14. Sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity;
  15. Willingness to learn and work with other occupational areas as required;
  16. Conscientious- care about how work is done and want to do a good job;
  17. Initiative- responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work;
  18. A focus on being friendly and patient in answering to customer/student needs;
  19. Willingness to maintain flexibility to meet customer/student needs;
  20. A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand;

  22. An understanding of the role and philosophy of the community college system.
