About the job:
Prepare and serve food and beverage items and serve as cashier for The Pavilion concession operations. Perform related preparation and cleaning duties.
A day in the life:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Greet customers and take orders.
- Prepare and serve food and beverage items.
- Serve as cashier including using point of sale system and processing cash and credit transactions.
- Perform basic food preparation duties.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of concession area equipment and surrounding areas.
- Complete opening and closing procedures for concession operations.
- Assist with inventorying and stocking of products.
- Provide basic facility and program information to public.
- Assist with emergency support as directed by others.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time winter seasonal position. Shifts include weekends evenings and some holidays.
What youll need for success:
Strong Knowledge of:
- Customer service and basic food service practices; and
- Basic math.
Skill and Ability to:
- Follow directions and procedures;
- Work efficiently while multitasking;
- Communicate effectively tactfully and pleasantly with people of all ages and abilities;
- Prepare and handle food and beverage items according to established procedures;
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately;
- Operate a point of sale station; and
- Establish and maintain positive respectful and cooperative working relationships with all contacts.
What were looking for:
Education Experience and Training:
- High school diploma or currently attending school; AND
- Some previous related volunteer or work experience; OR
- Any satisfactory combination of education experience and training.
Certification:
- Possession of or ability to obtain within 5 days of hire a current Oregon Food Handler Card.
Supervision Exercised:
Works under the direction of a supervisor. Carries out work independently but work and decisions are typically reviewed prior to final execution.
Supervision Received:
Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this classification.
Working Conditions:
The following are working conditions including environmental and physical demands required for this classification.
- Duties are primarily performed in a concession stand which can be hot and noisy.
- While preparing food there may be exposure to steam fumes and odors.
- Work is usually performed during evening and weekend hours.
- Physical exertion may include squatting bending kneeling reaching pushing pulling lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted when cleaning sanitizing inventorying and stocking products.
- Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists hands and/or fingers. Manual dexterity and coordination; daily precise control of fingers and hand movements while operating telephone kitchen tools cash register and computer.
- The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
Selection Process:
Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge abilities skills experience and training. An offer of employment is contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by Bend Park & Recreation District policies including a background check and a driving history review when driving is required for position.
