The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario and offers students and parents a world of choice for learning. We are seeking creative dynamic and committed teachers to join our team at Avalon Public School.
Avalon Public School is a beautiful school in a diverse community. We welcome students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and both the English and Early French Immersion Programs. We are a growing school with a population of around 350 students and with continued growth we expect more students to join us throughout the next few years. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school community and support students from a variety of cultures ethnicities and races. Together we work at removing barriers so that all our students have equal access to their education. Being a part of the Avalon Public School Community is a rewarding experience.
Ideal candidates will support the fulfillment of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Boards (OCDSB) Strategic Plan to enhance the quality of education in the school and the District by creating a positive and inclusive school climate learning and workplace environment. Candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with a human rights and equity perspective to foster student success achievement and well-being.

1) current elementary occasional teacher applicants followed by
2) qualified external applicants.
Required Qualifications
OCT Divisional Qualifications: Primary & Junior
OCT Additional Qualifications: FSL Part 1
Additional Requirements (experience knowledge education) considered an asset for the Position:

We recognize that representation amongst staff brings expertise in developing culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy and helps students to develop rich relationships as we develop equity inclusion and respect for diversity.
* Spec Ed TELL or ESL qualifications would be considered an asset.

A minimum of 3 qualified applicants will be offered an interview including:
1. At least three (3) teachers who are currently employed as an occasional teacher with the OCDSB and who have the required OCT qualifications and who best meet the criteria outlined in the job posting.
2. If fewer than three (3) qualified applicants apply all qualified applicants will be interviewed.
