THE RECRUITMENT RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS FROM $63163 to $67904. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidates education and experience related to the position as well as our agency budget and equity.

The North Carolina Department of Justice led by the Attorney General of North Carolina represents the State of North Carolina in court and provides legal advice and representation to most state government departments agencies officers and commissions.

The Department of Justice Information Technology Division is responsible for the design development and deployment of new business applications and continuous support of existing applications for the Department of Justice. The Division is responsible for supporting all networking associated with the DOJ computers for assessing needs for required hardware and system products needed to support the infrastructure and for operating a Customer Support Center (CSC). The infrastructure is a mission critical environment supporting the Department and criminal justice users. The Division is constantly engaged in research and planning to position its environment to be consistent with North Carolinas statewide technical architecture as well as mandates from the General Assembly.

  • This is analytical work in providing technical support in the areas of setup configuration and installation of desktops laptops and other computer related hardware throughout DOJ.
  • This position requires a broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support clients technical needs. Skills needed in Windows 10 operating systems TCP/IP network printing and maintain Windows print server maintain workgroup printers and other multifunction print devices maintain software and hardware for scanners remote assistant technology Active Directory Microsoft Office 365 NCID RACF Cisco VPN System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and various other internal applications.
  • Ability to create documentation of resolution used to resolve an issue.
  • The employee will log all support activity into the Incident Management tracking database. Provide the highest level of support to diagnose hardware software connectivity and mechanical problems using and building upon established procedures.
  • Employees at this level generally provide both routine and non-routine support for a broad range of information technologies or may provide in-depth support for a more narrowly defined area of technology
Selected candidate must undergo and successfully complete a background check.

The salary grade for this position is DT06. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY or MAY NOT result.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution plus one year of experience in the information technology field related to the positions role; or

Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the positions role; or

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the positions role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS) if you are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing. If you are a former member of the NC National Guard who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions you must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.
