This position is located at the Salt Lake Education Foundation in the District Office but may work and assist staff at the Community Learn Centers as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator with the Salt Lake Education Foundation (SLEF) plays a vital role in building strong connections between schools and the this position you will implement and coordinate education programs and school site activities support meaningful partnerships and acquire a broad array of community resources to support students and families throughout the District. The coordinator manages the volunteer onboarding process including background checks and fingerprinting to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience. Additionally this position will create and post engaging social media content to highlight the Foundations impact promote volunteer opportunities celebrate contributions and strengthen community involvement in support of SLEFs mission to enrich the districts educational programs and school activities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  3. Familiarity with community agencies resources and services for students
  4. Valid drivers license evidence of insurability and access to reliable transportation
  5. Speak read write and present professionally analyze and interpret English written and verbal communications
  6. Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g. phone copier scanner fax machines etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. Minimum two (2) years of college coursework
  2. Experience with marketing and social media
  3. Experience in a high school education environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists with the coordination of service projects with business partners and individual volunteers to involve the community in providing a wide range of supportive goods and services to schools students and families
  2. Conduct background checks and fingerprints of all district and school-based volunteers (e.g. making appointments performing fingerprinting maintaining necessary records etc.)
  3. Respond to inquiries (e.g. families the public etc.) to provide information and direction
  4. Coordinates information between schools and businesses community agencies civic organizations religious groups and ethnic groups within Salt Lake City to enhance opportunities for parents and students
  5. Assists with the coordination of special events and fundraisers to raise funds to support family programs at the schools
  6. Assists with solicitation of donations and gifts-in-kind from corporations foundations and individuals to support the Districts family support programs. Coordinates the receipt and disbursement of donated materials to schools/programs to assist schools in meeting the needs of school personnel students and families
  7. Maintains inventories of supplies and materials (e.g. in-kind donations etc.) to ensure items availability as needed
  8. Maintains a variety of records and reports (e.g. fingerprinting records etc.) to provide required information and documentation to donors and others. Processes documents and materials from community agencies to provide opportunities for students and families to enroll in programs
  9. Research data and information (e.g. program eligibility requirements new initiatives program performance demographic statistics etc.) to provide up-to-date accurate information
  10. Participate in meetings to provide and gather information
  11. Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. correspondence agendas minutes marketing materials reports memos letters etc.) to document activities provide written references and convey information
  12. Assists with the coordination of volunteer recognition activities to appreciate volunteers efforts
  13. Assists other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
  14. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines
  15. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
  16. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
  17. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 30 pounds
  18. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  19. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds some climbing and balancing some stooping kneeling crouching and crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting 30% walking and 30% job is performed under minimal temperature variations
