Claims Representative - Auto & Casualty

Job Summary

Seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Claims Representative to join a team. This role involves handling claims in compliance with company guidelines and the Unfair Claims Practices Act ensuring proper investigation evaluation and settlement of claims. The position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development within the Property and Casualty insurance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Handle claims in accordance with company guidelines and the Unfair Claims Practices Act.
  • Verify policy coverage for assigned claims.
  • Investigate evaluate and negotiate claims for proper settlement.
  • Assign independent adjusters appraisers and staff Field Claims Representatives as needed.
  • Pursue subrogation salvage and third-party liability contributions.
  • Notify the Claims Supervisor or Manager of claims exceeding $20000 in settlement authority.
  • Establish appropriate reserves for assigned claims.
  • Report claim complaints questionable submissions and potential fraud to the Casualty Claims and SIU Supervisor or Manager.
  • Attend claim seminars and participate in claim associations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Casualty Claims and SIU Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of Property and Casualty claims experience. 4 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance coverages and terms is preferred.
  • Ability to learn the coverages of all insurance policies written by the company.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to pursue insurance-related study courses.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and travel to company offices and vendor sites.
