Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Workday Extend Architect to join our Technology & Information Architectures team. In this role you will play a critical part in designing implementing and scaling technology architectures that support enterprise-level HR Finance and operational platforms leveraging Workday Extend.

As a key contributor you will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) providing architectural leadership guiding technical teams and ensuring that Workday-based solutions meet the organizations performance scalability and compliance needs. This role requires not only deep technical knowledge of Workday Extend but also expertise across broader application and technology architecture frameworks with the ability to deliver innovative solutions to complex business challenges in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architecture & Solution Design

  1. Design and deliver Workday Extend applications and integrations that align with enterprise architecture principles.
  2. Define end-to-end technology solutions to meet performance capability and scalability requirements.
  3. Ensure solutions are compliant with industry regulations and internal security/governance standards.
  • Leadership & Collaboration

  1. Act as an SME in Workday Extend and technology architecture guiding technical teams and ensuring high-quality delivery.
  2. Lead architectural discussions provide strategic input and take responsibility for team-level and cross-team decisions.
  3. Collaborate with HR Finance IT and compliance stakeholders to align solutions with business needs.
  • Innovation & Problem Solving

  1. Develop innovative technology solutions that solve complex problems across multiple teams and domains.
  2. Identify opportunities to extend Workday functionality beyond core capabilities to enhance business value.
  3. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend integration opportunities within the Workday ecosystem and enterprise landscape.
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement

  1. Contribute to enterprise architecture practices by defining standards frameworks and best practices.
  2. Support technology governance by ensuring architectural consistency across multiple projects.
  3. Drive continuous improvement by introducing best practices for Workday Extend application development and deployment.
Required Skills & Expertise
  • Technical Expertise

  1. Proven experience as a Workday Extend Architect including solution design configuration and deployment.
  2. Strong proficiency in Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF Zachman or equivalent).
  3. Expert-level knowledge in Applications Architecture and Architectural Design.
  4. Master-level proficiency in Technology Architecture and Operational Architecture.
  5. Hands-on experience with Workday integration tools (EIB Workday Studio REST/SOAP APIs).
  6. Familiarity with enterprise-grade cloud platforms (Azure AWS or GCP) and integration patterns.
  • Professional Competencies

  1. Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor cross-functional technical teams.
  2. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence business and technical stakeholders.
  3. Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals biotech or healthcare is strongly preferred.
  4. Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving analytical and decision-making capabilities.
