Job Purpose:
- To ensure the accurate and timely production of all UK Legal Entity Reporting which are compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Review business results and performance relevant to the production of the statutory accounts understanding and communicating any variances to internal stakeholders.
- Providing forward looking insight on the impact of new regulatory and reporting requirements;
- Develop and embed a continuous improvement culture as part of the wider External Reporting Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage preparation of annual UK statutory (solo and consolidated) accounts for the UK insurance entities and smaller companies and supporting analytical review and analysis and reporting
- Oversight of monthly HCCI Plc consolidation producing standard report analysis and reconciliations;
- Liaison with the FP&A team for the production of financial information for inclusion in the quarterly CFO report for combined International platform and individual Legal Entity results for UK Audit Committee and UK Boards including analytical review and analysis of US GAAP and UK GAAP Legal Entity balance sheets income statements and cash flows;
- Provide support to completion of overseas entity statutory reporting;
- Coordinate with external auditors the timely completion of the annual UK statutory audits.
- Prepare and maintain annual timetable for all audited Legal Entity statutory reporting;
- Prepare branch financials and coordinate with the Tax team reporting for the annual financials;
- Review and monitor quarterly results of all UK entities and liaise with Controllership to ensure US GAAP and UK GAAP journals are complete and accurate;
- Coordinate and manage various internal reporting requirements (eg Risk Metrics).
Delivery of projects initiatives and objectives
- Key involvement in Legal Entity Reporting projects to ensure that they meet defined objectives and are delivered on time.
- Define objectives for the Statutory and Technical Reporting in line with External Reporting and overall Finance objectives.
- Support the Deputy Head of Legal Entity Reporting and wider Finance team on strategic projects as required.
- Coordinate the wider finance Team to deliver internal and external audit requests.
- Be a proactive member of the finance management community liaising with peers for relevant knowledge-sharing.
- Encourage and embed a culture of continuous improvement and end-to-end process thinking.
Ensure UK Legal Entities Reporting remains compliant with accounting technical and regulatory developments
- Research and analysis of technical accounting issues that may impact US UK and local GAAP and Regulatory Reporting including preparation of technical papers for internal and audit review.
Skills and Experience Specification:
- Experience and knowledge of Insurance accounting;
- Strong practical accounting skills;
- Experience of producing financial reports and presenting to management;
- Experience of leading managing and implementing change into finance functions including system changes;
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications especially Excel;
- Experience of maintaining an effective controls framework;
- Attention to detail and strong planning and organisational skills

- Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally
- General commercial and financial knowledge
