Job Description
- Develop high-voltage electrical system designs for substations transmission lines and power distribution networks.
- Perform load flow short-circuit and arc flash studies.
- Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers circuit breakers and switchgear.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g. IEEE IEC NEC).
- Lead engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with stakeholders including clients contractors and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure project timelines budgets and deliverables are met.
- Oversee the installation testing and commissioning of high-voltage equipment.
- .Conduct system performance analysis and troubleshoot issues
- Implement corrective actions and ensure proper system integration.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs for high-voltage systems
- Diagnose and resolve faults in power systems.
- Optimize equipment performance and reliability.
- Ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations (OSHA NFPA 70E etc.)
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for electrical safety.
- Provide technical expertise to junior engineers and field personnel
- Conduct training sessions on high-voltage systems and safety procedures.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Having a minimum of 510 years of experience in high-voltage electrical engineering.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (ETAP DIgSILENT AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of high-voltage protection and control systems.
- Understanding of SCADA relay coordination and grid interconnection.
- A professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work in field conditions substations and industrial facilities.
