The Opportunity ASSISTANTMANAGER INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM (ISP) HOMESTAY


Applicationsare invited for the position of Assistant Manager of International StudentProgram (ISP) Homestay for School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson). This is a part-time exempt position startingat $40 000 per year. The position istwenty hours per week as determined by the District Principal InternationalStudent Program and the Homestay Manager and will include some evening andweekend work. The International StudentProgram (ISP) Homestay Assistant Manager will work closely with the ISP teamunder the direction of the District Principal International Education toeffectively work with the ISP Homestay Manager to manage the operationalcomponents of the International Student Homestay Program.

Responsibilities

Promotingthe Homestay Program and the value of International Student Programs in thecommunity

Overseeingand working with the School District No. 73 Communications Department for therecruitment of prospective homestay families through a variety of methods

Workingwith the Homestay Manager to design maintain and revise homestay familyapplication and selection processes contracts/agreements a homestay familyhandbook records student handbook student placement processes and homestayprofiles to meet program district and governmental needs and requirements andto reduce and mitigate risk

Supportingthe vetting and selection process for homestays (including reviewingapplications facilitating Criminal Record Checks home visits and collectingother relevant information)

Assistingwith making homestay placements for all programming

Maintainingthe homestay component of the True North database

Providingregular communication to homestay families through the True North database

Providepresentations to students (one-on-one or as part of an orientation) on how tobe successful in a homestay environment

Ensurethat students have the proper documentation and permission when travellingoutside the Kamloops area

Trackingarrival and departure information of students and meeting them with theirhomestay families at the airport upon arrival

Providingorientation to new families and ongoing in-service training and education forreturning homestay families

Providinghomestay profiles in a timely manner to agents for their incoming students

Supporthomestay families and students with the coordination of medical plans andassist in hospital visits including medical claims

Attendingmeetings as requested by the District Principal International Student Program

Problem-solvingstudent and homestay related issues as they arise

Providepick-up/drop off support for emergency homestay moves

Availabilityfor evening and weekend on-call duties including at times monitoring theemergency phone

Performall related duties as assigned by the District Principal InternationalEducation Assistant Superintendent responsible for International Education andthe ISP Homestay Manager


Qualifications

Postsecondary degree certificate or equivalent combination of education andexperience

Experienceworking in a homestay service or program

Experiencein marketing

Experienceworking with international students and demonstrated cross culturalunderstanding and sensitivity

Highlyeffective interpersonal and professional communication skills both written andverbal

Demonstratedorganizational and management skills including the ability to meet deadlines

Abilityto work independently and as a member of a diverse team

Excellentleadership skills using tact and good judgement especially when faced withstressful situations

Abilityto use standard office equipment proficiency with MS Office database programsand administrative software

Fluencyin spoken and written English

Avalid BC drivers license business use insurance and a safe driving record

Abilityto work extended hours weekends and evenings as required


Compensation


The salary forthis position is $40000 plus an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
