Duties and Responsibilities(* Denotes Essential Functions)
- Under the general supervision of the Ka Ipu Hookele Waa Grant Manager the Multimedia Professional Development Coordinator is responsible for designing implementing and coordinating professional development initiatives focused on digital Hawaiian storytelling practices. This role is dedicated to promoting indigenous Hawaiian culture and place-based teaching and learning methodologies with the goal of enriching educational experiences for faculty staff and students in alignment with the objectives of the Title III Grant Ka Ipu Hookele Waa: Indigenous Digital Storytelling Project.
- *Design and lead professional development workshops for faculty staff and students on utilizing multimedia tools for teaching and learning with a focus on integrating Hawaiian language and Hawaiian cultural practices values and storytelling methodologies into educational content. These workshops will empower educators to incorporate culturally relevant digital media into their curriculum to enhance student engagement and success.
- *Collaborate with the project team industry professionals and Hawaiian culture practitioners to brainstorm and develop innovative design concepts and curriculum that align with the Title III grant objectives.
- *Lead the creation of bilingual multimedia tools ensuring the seamless integration of Hawaiian and English language content to support the cultural and educational mission of the project.
- *Design and develop interactive media projects using cutting-edge technologies including 3D animation dynamic maps video audio and graphic elements.
- *Apply specialized multimedia skills in graphic design videography cartography or multimedia design/development to create high-quality digital resources.
- *Coordinate and manage student employees providing direction and mentorship to ensure successful completion of multimedia projects.
- *Provide cross-specialty training and mentorship to team members and student employees enhancing their skills in multimedia production.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in education technology creative media communication arts visual arts or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for design and operations of video production and video editing facilities to include studio and location production; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of using industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign) Drupal and Final Cut Pro for graphic design multimedia production and content development as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with delivering professional development training focused on Indigenous Hawaiian education frameworks and methodologies with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive teaching practices and place-based learning strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing software and industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign) Drupal and Final Cut Pro for graphic design multimedia production and content development.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing project schedules and timelines ensuring that multimedia deliverables are completed on time within scope and meet established quality standards.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing AI-driven tools for multimedia project creation and design enhancing workflow efficiency and content quality through automated video editing image generation and machine learning-based design enhancements.
- Knowledge and experience with Hawaiian cultural practices protocols and values.
- A minimum of three (3) years effective working relationship with Hawaiian communities.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
